About

I enjoy making an impact on other people's growth, connecting people, and creating high-performing teams with passion and respect.

I'm an advocate for those who need one and a creative partner when ideas are running low. If I had to boil it down to a phrase, I operate under the guidance of doing well by doing good.

My personal mission is to help people navigate, understand, and thrive in the financial world. That runs through the day job, the nonprofit, and the boards I sit on.

My operating manual

This is what I send new team members so they know what to expect from me.

Feedback is very important

I believe in an open door, chat-anytime policy. I give direct feedback on the great things and on the things that need improvement, and celebrating wins matters as much as supporting growth. I don't think of mistakes as mistakes. They're opportunities, and that's how I approach constructive feedback.

Feedback is for everyone, including me. If there's a better or different way for me to communicate or execute, I'm happy to hear it. My goal is to create and keep safe spaces, and ultimately trust. If something is going wrong, whether it's an interaction or a project, bring it to me right away. I'm keen on solving things as a team.

I'm curious

I ask a lot of questions and I encourage the people around me to do the same. The more information I have, the better I can make impactful decisions based on facts and data.

Work-life balance

I wear many hats, and I keep clear boundaries for family time. When I'm out of office I'm only available for emergencies. I do work some crazy hours, but I do not expect anyone else to. Nobody needs to answer a message I sent at an odd time.

My calendar can be fun

I've spent more time than I'd like to admit keeping my time organized so I can strategize and execute. Any open time on my calendar is free for anyone to book, for anything from a virtual coffee to advice on how to move a project forward.

My favorite things (at work, anyway)

  • Having fun wherever appropriate
  • Bullet points and short summaries with actionable insights
  • Mistakes = opportunities, or failing forward
  • Simple, easy-to-adopt processes

My values

  • Transparency about what has happened, what's happening, and what's going to happen
  • Speed, including proactive efforts that keep us moving without sacrificing quality
  • Learning
  • Your time
  • Creativity
  • Integrity
  • Mentorship

Fun fact

Natalia Brown on a boat deck with the Lower Manhattan skyline behind her

I have a list of 40 things that I gave myself 12 months to accomplish. The list only contains things I've never done before, from skydiving to learning the piano.

I enjoy challenging myself to learn and experience all that I can.
